Rams staying in hotel, not in college dorms during training camp

The Rams have held their annual training camp on UC Irvine’s campus since moving back to Los Angeles in 2016, but they’ll be making a change when players report this week. Players will no longer be staying in dorm rooms on campus as the team has opted for a more comfortable living situation.
Instead, players will check in to a hotel in Newport Beach, according to Gary Klein of the LA Times.
When the team first moved to L.A. in 2016, players stayed in dorm rooms that didn’t have air conditioning, which obviously isn’t very comfortable – especially for players who spend day after day in the heat and sun. The hotel will be much more accommodating, even if it means players can’t commute to the field in golf carts.
Rookies and quarterbacks will report on Wednesday, while the rest of the team will show up on Friday. The first day of practice is on Saturday, which is one of seven days open to the public.
