Sending your kids off to college can mean a few things. You finally have your home to yourself for the first time in years. And you’ll know your kid won’t go hungry because you got them a mini-fridge for their dorm, like this Midea double-door mini-fridge with a freezer, which is now on sale for $207, or 10 percent off its list price.

This 52-pound mini fridge is usually priced at $230, but it’s now $23 off at Amazon. It has more bells and whistles compared to others in its category, although the feature that separates it from the rest is its separate freezer compartment.

The mini fridge features 3.1 cubic feet of storage (2.2 cubic feet for the refrigerator and 0.9 for the freezer). It can keep food temperature as low as 32 degrees Fahrenheit, while the freezer has a low temperature of -11 degrees.

It’s also only 18.5 inches wide and 19.4 inches high, and has a voltage of 115 volts at 60Hz, which is the sweet spot for most dorm rooms (but check with the school administration before purchasing).

“This is a good dorm mini-fridge,” a college student wrote on Amazon. “The freezer keeps things frozen, the fridge keeps things cold, and I don’t have to use the overstuffed communal fridges in the kitchen. It’s big enough to hold quite a bit of food, yet small enough to fit well in my 200 sq-foot dorm room. Highly recommended for any college student who wants or needs to cook for themselves.”

Most mini-fridge units include a very small space for a freezer (if they even include one at all) inside of the fridge itself, but this one from Midea has a larger freezer with its own dedicated swinging door. This is ideal for storing frozen pizza, ice cream, and making ice cubes. It’s even grandma-approved:

“I purchased this for my grandson’s dorm room after reading all the reviews on many small refrigerators. My grandson loves it and enjoys that it has a larger freezer and can make his own ice with enough room to store food too. He has it next to his bed and said that it doesn’t make any noise to keep him up at night,” added this happy grandmother.

There are a lot of quality mini-fridges out there, but the Midea double-door mini-fridge with a freezer comes with everything you’d expect from a regular-size refrigerator, but in a much smaller, dorm-friendly size.

“It’s a souped up dorm fridge,” another college student wrote. “The separate freezer compartment actually keeps things frozen (unlike the one-door mini fridge/freezers that don’t really freeze anything). I like it. So far, no problems. The refrigerator compartment is a bit smaller, but the freezer compartment is perfect. The black finish is very attractive.”
