Free College Football Picks Thursday Night 10/3/19

If Amazon doesn't have a Whole Foods grocery near you, there are non-perishable groceries ( food that doesn't spoil) that Amazon can ship to you

There is a fun NFL game on Thursday night, but the college kids are also getting in on the action. An American Conference matchup and a Fun Belt matchup gets this weekend of college football kick started Thursday night. Both road teams are double digit favorites Friday night and neither over/under is over 48 points, so expect a relatively bleak night of football.

Below are my two best bets for Thursday’s college football action.

Georgia Southern (-10) at South Alabama: O/U 45.5 points scored (-110/-110)

Georgia Southern opened their Sun Belt campaign with a 37-24 home loss to Louisiana last weekend. That’s two losses in a row for the Eagles after they fell just short of upsetting undefeated Minnesota a few weeks back. GSU is still looking for their first win against a FBS team this season. The Eagles are 129th in the nation in passing yards per game (49.8) and are 42st in the nation in rushing yards per game (201.8). GSU averages just 19.8 ppg and gives up over 36.3.

South Alabama enters Thursday with a 1-4 overall record and a 0-1 Sun Belt record. The Jaguars opened up conference play with a 30-17 road loss to Louisiana-Monroe last weekend. USA is now a three game losing streak and are being outscored 107-26 in those three games. Like Georgia Southern, South Alabama is looking for their first FBS win of 2019. The Jaguars are 122nd in the nation in passing yards per game (140.0) and are 49th in the nation in rushing yards (193.4). South Alabama averages just 17.2 ppg and gives up 31.2.

Series History: Georgia Southern has won all five meetings between these two including a 48-13 win last season.

Prediction: Georgia Southern leads most of the way and gets the cover. Take GSU at -10.

Temple (-11.5) at East Carolina: O/U 47.5 points scored (-110/-110)

Temple opens their American Conference schedule Thursday night with a visit to East Carolina. The Owls enter Thursday with a 3-1 record including a home win over then #21 Maryland. Temple’s lone loss was a bad road loss to Buffalo a few weeks back. Temple is 25th in the nation in passing yards per game (292.3) and are 89th in the country in rushing yards per game (141.0). The Owls are putting up 30.5 points per game and are giving up just 17.3.

East Carolina enter Thursday with a 3-2 overall record and a 0-1 record in AAC play. The Pirates opened their conference play with a 42-10 loss, at Navy, a few weeks back and will now look to build off their two game winning streak. ECU is 107th in the nation in passing yards per game (197.4) and are 59th in the nation on the ground (173.4). The Pirates are putting up 21.4 ppg and giving up 22.6.

Series History: Temple leads the all-time series 8-7 after winning the last five meetings between the two.

Prediction: I think Temple leads most of the way, but take ECU at +11.5.

YTD College Football Results: 7-6
