WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) – New and returning college students are settling into their new living spaces this evening in Winona.

Tuesday was Move-In Day at Winona State Univesrity.

Freshman and returning students were busy hauling boxes and containers into the halls.

Move-In day comes at the start of new student welcome week, which runs through Friday.

About 2,300 students are moving in, about the same as last year’s on-campus resident total.

The day is full of emotion for families and staff.

“The enthusiasm about what’s ahead, that wondering about what the future holds, and seeing, you know. Getting choked up.  See the parents so proud, really excited about what’s ahead for their sons and daughters, mixed in with a little anxiety,” said Paul Scheevel, Winona State University director of Housing and Residence Life.

Fall semester classes begin at Winona State next Monday.
