HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Although summertime is not necessarily sleepy time on the Hope College campus, with numerous camps held, the Holland school will spring back to life this weekend.

The freshman class will be able to enter the residence halls on Friday at 10 AM. To help facilitate the moving in process, Holland Public Safety will establish traffic flow changes for a 12-hour period. From 8 AM to 8 PM, East 10th Street between College and Columbia avenues will be one-way westbound, with East 13th Street between those two avenues being one-way eastbound. Columbia Avenue between East 9th and East 10th streets will be blocked off for unloading, with traffic allowed to enter at 10th and exit at 9th. There will be no parking placards placed on East 10th, East 13th and Columbia Avenues in those areas as well.

Various orientation activities for members of the Class of 2023, along with their parents, are slated through the wraparound four-day weekend. It includes the Opening Convocation in DeVos Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon at 2 PM, with another “new” face – alum Matthew Scogin, returning as Hope’s new permanent president – as the featured speaker. The Convocation is free and open to the entire Holland community.

Classes for Hope’s 158th Academic Year begins on Tuesday morning.
