BRIDGEPORT — More than 350 incoming college students packed the Beacon Hall Events Center at Housatonic Community College on Friday for new student orientation.

The orientation allows future students the chance to familiarize themselves with resources and connect with fellow students, faculty and staff before classes start later this month, the college said.

An estimated 120 rising high school seniors considering attending HCC next fall, and their parents, also visited the college.

There were information sessions and a campus-wide barbecue.

“Our incoming students built a foundation for college success today,” said a statement from Paul Broadie, president of Housatonic Community College. “It is thrilling to see this engagement, and to welcome prospective students and their families to our campus.”

Class registration is currently underway, with classes scheduled to begin Aug. 27.

On Saturday, Aug. 24, HCC will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for students interested in registering from fall 2019 classes. Interested potential students can also call the registrar office at 203-332-5088 to register.
