Hampton hires Rashad Devoe as next men’s lacrosse head coach

The Hampton Pirates have hired former Naval Academy Preparatory School head coach Rashad Devoe as their next men’s lacrosse head coach, multiple sources tell College Crosse. An official announcement is expected very soon.
Devoe spent the 2019 season as the head coach at Navy Prep. He took over after spending three seasons as the head coach of Division III Beloit where he went 23-24 at the Wisconsin school. The Buccaneers finished in the top four in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference in each of his three seasons, including a first place finish back in 2017.
Prior to Beloit, Devoe was an assistant coach at Colby and Southwestern in the college ranks, as well as at Dallas Jesuit Prep at the high school level. He also has experience working with the Rochester Knighthawks and the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League during the 1990s and 2000s.
Devoe was previously offered the job earlier in Hampton’s coaching search, but multiple sources have told College Crosse he originally turned it down.
Devoe succeeds Lloyd Carter, who retired as head coach on June 30. Carter was also the co-founder of the program when it started as a club team. Hampton went 6-5 in his final season, which was once again filled with plenty of Division II and III opponents. The Pirates return their top five goal scorers, four of them were either a freshman or a sophomore.
There are currently no more head coaching vacancies on the men’s side in Division I college lacrosse. Cleveland State has tabbed Andy German as their interim head coach after Dylan Sheridan took an assistant coaching gig at Ohio State, but have stated that a national search will be conducted to permanently fill the spot.

Save money on books, school supplies and everything you want to enjoy college! Financial aid, back in the olden days meant grants, scholarships, work study jobs. Loans were part of the package, but since they are available, ‘common thought’ was it is not financial aid – it was however a low interest loan. If you’re dependent on your parents, and they are below a certain income, most colleges give you much monies to help you attend their school. The middle class student with 2 working parents pays much more for their child to attend school and that student often can’t get work study job on campus. Those jobs are limited to the kids with financial aid.
If you can, or your parents can, to lower your loan debt when you leave school, if you have any monies, try to pay at least the interest while you are in school. Many loans start adding interest the day they are used to pay for school. So a $10,000 loan becomes a $12,000 amount when you leave school (example each loan is different) If you pay the interest (example $25 per month) then the $10,000 loan is only $10,000 when you leave school.
