Florida A&M’s SJGC dean receives award from journalism educators

Michelle Ferrier, dean of the FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication, has been awarded the coveted Professional Freedom and Responsibility Award from the Media Management Economics and Entrepreneurship Division.

The MMEE is a division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the nonprofit association of journalism and mass communication educators, students and media professionals. 

Ferrier was recognized for the critical research and continuing work of the organization she founded: TrollBusters – an organization that combats online harassment of journalists.

She received the Outstanding Professional Freedom and Responsibility award during the division meeting of AEJMC in Toronto, Canada.

FAMU professor appointed to International Scientific Advisory Board

O.S. Mbuya, a professor of Agricultural Sciences in the FAMU College of Agricultural and Food Sciences, and a Courtesy Professor of Agronomy at the University of Florida /Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, will attend and present at the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change.

The 68th United Nations Civil Society Conference will be held Aug. 26-28 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mbuya also has been appointed to a member of the International Scientific Advisory Board of the Africa Center of Excellence for Mycotoxins and Food Safety at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria.

FAMU dean receives honorary doctorate university in North Hungary

Victor Ibeanusi, Ph.D., Dh.c, dean of FAMU’s School of the Environment, was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Miskolc, in Hungary.

The University is located in Miskolc, Hungary, and has over 15,000 students.

It is the largest university in North Hungary.

New tenured professors named at FAMU-FSU College of Engineering

The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering has announced the following faculty news:

Shonda Bernadin, Ph.D. received tenure. Bernadin is an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering.

Tarik Dickens, Ph.D. received tenure and is promoted to associate professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering.

Eren Ozguven, Ph.D. received tenure and is promoted to associate professor of civil and environmental engineering.

Daniel Hallinan, Jr., Ph.D. received tenure and is promoted to associate professor of chemical and biomedical engineering.

Md Omar Faruque, Ph.D. received tenure and is promoted to associate professor of electrical and computer engineering.
